According to www.pennenergy.com, the AED Oil Ltd has confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in its Lukut-1 wildcat well, which was drilled on onshore Block L in Brunei.
The company said that hole gas measurements made during wireline logging have confirmed the find across a number of intervals.
The well had an original target depth of 2,150m but was deepened to 2,230m to assess a zone of interest.
Lukut-1 also intersected other unpredicted zones of interest at the new total
depth and these are now being evaluated with a view to deepening the well further.
Lukut-1 is the first well to be drilled in Block L since the block was gazetted as a designated area of the national oil company. It's also the first onshore drilling undertaken by Brunei National Petroleum Company since 24 years ago.
AED Oil will move its drilling operation to the second location of Lempuyang in a few days, which is also located in Block L.
On June 2, AED Oil announced that drilling operations at the Lukut-1 well have intersected possible reservoirs.
The Lukut-1 well was spudded on May 2 and is currently within budget and cost estimates. The schedule for completion may vary depending on the outcome of the wire line logging and any subsequent flow testing. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
